Lemon citrus limon

Description: The most popular citrus oil, Lemon has been used for its flavor, smell and antibacterial properties in cleaners and household products for years. The Spark Naturals Lemon oil is cold pressed and comes from Italy.

Properties: Anti Anemic, Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Microbial, Anti-Rheumatic, Antiseptic, Carminative, Diaphoretic, Diuretic, Insecticidal

Historical Uses: Lemon oil has been used to fight infections, soothe headaches and migraines, improve muscle problems and helps the digestive system. Lemon oil has also been used extensively for its smell, Antibacterial and Antimicrobial properties in cleaning solutions.

Uses: 

-Use aromatically to cleanse the air, and provide a great mood-enhancing environment. 
-Use topically to clear congested or oily skin and help treat cuts or minor wounds. 
-Place a few drops on a wet sponge and wipe down counters or surfaces in your home. 
-Gargle with warm water to clean mouth and aid with cold sores

Recipes:

Lemon Oil Deodorant

4 Tbsp. Coconut Oil

2 Tbsp. Baking Soda

2 Tbsp. Arrowroot or Cornstarch

5-10 drops Lemon essential oil

In a small bowl mix baking soda and arrowroot or cornstarch, add in the coconut oil and Lemon essential oil and mix well. Transfer mixture to jar or deodorant container, place in fridge for at least 30 minutes to harden. Apply daily as needed. 

Wild Orange citrus sinensis

Description: Wild Orange is a favorite among cosmetics, perfumes, soap and detergent manufacturers for its amazing smell, anti-fungal and antidepressant properties. Wild Orange and citrus oils are used in aromatherapy to invite and create feelings that are calming and happy.

Properties: Antiseptic, Antidepressant, Antispasmodic, Anti Inflammatory, Cholagogue, Carminative, Diuretic, Sedative and Tonic

Historical Uses: Wild Orange has been used to promote good feelings and mood and may help relax the body and help children sleep at night. Wild Orange may help in balancing the body and be a lymphatic stimulant. People have used this for cooking and made smoothies out of Wild Orange oil also. Wild Orange Diuretic Properties may help to alleviate water retention obesity and cellulite.

Possible Uses: 

Diffuse to help with colds and flu, to help alleviate stress and create a warm happy environment. 
Blend with lotion, creams or carrier oil to help with aging skin and revitalize dry skin. 
Add to water or smoothie for an exotic taste and help with water retention in body.

Grapefruit: citrus paradisi

Description: Grapefruit has a fresh citrus aroma, which is refreshing yet not too sharp. It is rich in antioxidants and a powerful skin ointment. The Spark Naturals Grapefruit oil is cold pressed from the rind. 

Properties: Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Disinfectant, Diuretic and Stimulant 

Historical Uses: The Grapefruit tree was cultivated in Asia, the West Indies and the Mediterranean in the early 18th century. It was brought to the USA at the beginning of the 20th century. Grapefruit has been a great source of vitamin c and use frequently for its aromatic mood lifting properties. 

Uses: 

Grapefruit has a high vitamin C content, which can be valuable to the immune system. Try diluting in liquid or placing a few drops in a gelatin capsules and consume to help fight off cold and flu. 
Grapefruit has a diuretic property, which may help relieve excess water from the body and may also help in treating cellulite. 
Diffuse to assist with hangovers, headaches and mental exhaustion.

Recipes:

Energy Diffuser Blend:

3 drops Grapefruit essential oil

3 drops Basil essential oil

2 drops Peppermint essential oil

Add oils to diffuser blend and diffuse in the mornings for a boost in energy.

Anti-Cellulite Cream:

30 drops Grapefruit essential oil

1 cup Coconut oil

Directions: Mix two ingredients well, store in a glass jar. Rub the affected area for 5 minutes daily.
