Spearmint mentha spicata

Description: Spearmint is known to help with asthma, congestion and is also a decongestant. The Spark Naturals Spearmint Essential Oil is great for aromatic use. Spearmint has an anti-spasmodic property in helping relax and cool muscles and nerves. It is also a cephalic, meaning that it has a relaxing and cooling effect on the brain, taking away stress and helping to focus.

Historical Uses: Spearmint has been used for many digestive problems such as flatulence, constipation, nausea and can aid in the relaxation of stomach muscles. Spearmint has smaller amounts of menthol than peppermint and has been used as an alternative to peppermint on younger people and children. Spearmint also has been used to relieve hiccups, it can help with ailments such as migraines, fatigue, stress, asthma and bronchitis. Topically Spearmint may be used to help with acne, dermatitis, congest skin and irritated gums.

Possible Uses:

Diffuse or add to water and rub on stomach for digestion.
Rub a few drops on temples or forehead for headaches.
Place a drop or two on tongue to improve alertness.
